The author as you might have guessed by the site name is Michael Jones. Currently a student in Electronic & Electrical Engineering in Edinburgh at Heriot-Watt University, I am coming towards the end of my degree have achieved near straight A's for every module so far (Currently 36 Grade A's out of 44 Module exams) including a grade A for my 4th Year dissertation titled "Point to point discreet mobile optical communications link". This publication is available in the publication section of this site.

I am currently on track to receive an MEng degree with Distinction, If i was to graduate now i would receive a First Class Honours Degree.

Work

As part of the degree i will be undertaking a 6 month Industrial Placement with Selex S&AS in Edinburgh. Selex is part of the Finmeccanica group and undertakes a veriety of work in the defence electronics sector.

Career Aspirations

The majority of my skills are based around hardware & software programming and integration, therefore I aim to work for a sucessfull company where I am able to make use of my skills. This will likely be within a company that makes use of embedded systems. Whether it is microcontrollers or FPGA's.
